Cherry Audio Galactic Reverb: Lush digital spaces with modulation
Cherry Audio has released Galactic Reverb. Based on an algorithm from the developer Dreamsynth instrument, which has been expanded and refined, Galactic Reverb delivers expansive, lush spaces reminiscent of classic hardware digital reverbs.

Digital reverb seems to be en vogue right now. Just last week, Softube Wasted Space brought lo-fi digital sounds to your DAW. Cherry Audio’s latest plug-in Galactic also draws inspiration from digital hardware, but this time, it’s all about beautiful, ethereal spaces that send your tracks into outer space.
According to Cherry Audio, Galactic is based on the reverb algorithm from the Dreamsynth DS-1 virtual instrument, which came out earlier this year. However, the developer has added several new features to make Galactic more versatile as a stand-alone reverb.
The time section in the center of the GUI couldn’t be more 80s. Cherry Audio says that the decay time can be as high as 35 seconds, which is enough for never-ending, lush washes of sound. Compared to Dreamsynth, they’ve added a pre-delay control.
Modulation and ducking
Also new is the modulation section on the left, which allows you to apply a modulation LFO to the reverb tail. The frequency range is 0.1 Hz to 5 kHz, which opens up many sound design possibilities. Furthermore, there’s a damping control and a 2-band equalizer for additional sound shaping.
The built-in ducking feature is another addition Cherry Audio has made in comparison with Dreamsynth. It automatically reduces the reverb level while the source signal is playing. This can obviously help to clean up the mix, especially with this kind of long, otherworldly reverb tails.
At the low intro price, Cherry Audio Galactic Reverb clearly looks like a worthwhile addition to any producer’s toolkit.
