Chibson USA Placebo Pedal
Made by Daredevil Effects, the Chibson USA Placebo Pedal is limited to a run of only 100 pedals. These ‘totally transparent’ boutique pedals are specifically designed to do absolutely nothing! When you engage the footswitch, a status LED comes on, but the two controls labeled Dosage and Side FX don’t really do much, and your guitar sounds exactly the same!
You may think its current list price of $99 on the Daredevil Pedals website is a lot for a pedal that does nothing. But once you realise it has been reduced from $1495.99, it seems like quite the bargain.

Well, actually, you can buy an add-on $25 plug-in circuit which turns the pedal into a Coloursound One Knob-style fuzz. You can hear it being demoed below by Johnny at Daredevil Pedals. And I have to say, it sounds pretty dirty and raucous!

I quite like the way the company got Mastodon’s Brent Hinds involved too. Maybe not officially, but he appears in the video trying to thump them, so that counts right?
