CME H4MIDI WC and U4MIDI WC MIDI Interfaces
MIDI expert CME today announced two new MIDI interfaces, H4MIDI WC and U4MIDI WC. Both appear to be flexible and powerful little MIDI boxes, each capable of working with a computer or standalone. Guitarists with MIDI pedals, are you paying attention?
H4MIDI WC
H4MIDI WC is a compact MIDI interface with a built-in USB host plus two inputs and two outputs each of five-pin DIN MIDI. That USB host allows you to connect up to eight additional devices via USB MIDI when connected to a computer. For standalone use, you’ve got the two ins and two outs. It also supports up to four-in, four-out virtual MIDI ports for use with a computer, iOS, Android or web browser.
To keep track of everything, including MIDI routing, mapping and filtering, CME offers its free HxMIDI Tools software. Routings are saved to the device and ready to be used offline.
Need wireless MIDI? H4MIDI WC is Bluetooth MIDI-ready and works with CME’s own WIDI Core breakout expansion. You can also plug in your own WIDI master or WIDI jack.
In terms of power, H4MIDI WC accepts both USB-C power and mains via a 9V adapter (not included).
U4MIDI WC
If you’ve been thinking, “This all sounds great but I don’t need the USB host or virtual MIDI,” then the U4MIDI WC is for you. It offers the same number of DIN MIDI in and out ports but does away with the USB host. It still offers USB or 9V power, though, and will accept wireless MIDI. It also works with the HxMIDI Tools software.

Cool! They should now do a USB-only version (and with more than one USB connector, please) for us who want to connect keyboards and stuff that has only USB MIDI, as more and more devices do.
