Released: Overloud Comp G, a feature-loaded take on the SSL Bus Compressor
Developer Overloud has all hands on deck working on an emulation of the fabled SSL master bus compressor. In addition to recreating the circuit to the best of its team’s abilities, Overloud has added parallel compression, mid-side processing, a low-cut filter on the sidechain circuit, and continuous time and ratio selection. That’s a lot of improvements!
There are two convenience goodies, too — Scribble Strips for taking notes of the virtual plug-in panel, and adjustable Meter Calibration for calibrating the VU meters at 4 different sensitivities.
We certainly respect Overloud‘s approach to improving the SSL bus compressor with useful functionality not found in the original hardware. The developer is sensibly taking advantage of the freedom and power offered by the software environment to bring additional value to their product for users’ convenience.
The SSL Bus Compressor is known for its ability to “glue” the different elements of a mix together, making for a very useful and trustworthy tool in anyone’s mastering arsenal. There are plenty of emulations on the market, including ones built by SSL (or at least under the British mogul’s strict supervision).
The plug-in has launched, priced EUR 90 for the introductory period. The regular price will be EUR 139.
