The new for 2021 Cort X700 Mutility has a 24.75” – 25.5” multi-scale roasted maple neck and fretboard with stainless steel frets, and a set of the very much in vogue Fishman Fluence Modern humbuckers. The pickups have two voices which you can select using the push/pull function on the volume, or split the humbuckers with the push/pull on the tone control. A standard three-way blade switch selects the pickup.

“Mutility is a made up word that means a combination of Duality, which was the previous model I’ve been using, with Utility and Multiscale”. – Hedras

X Series

The Cort X Series is aimed squarely at players of more modern styles, and the X700 Mutility model fits that bill perfectly. With its combination of maple and ash top on a mahogany body, it is designed to be tonally balanced. The guitar also utilises individual hardtail bridges for each string, to help with clarity and sustain. All these little touches should add up to a great sounding instrument.

Modern Multi-Scale

Overall, it seems like a very versatile guitar that should appeal to players of more modern styles. Personally, I like this new design quite a bit, and will try and get my hands on one to test out in the coming year.
