All About Waves Curves Equator
Curves Equator Live: Now With Real-time Resonance Control for Perfect Sound
One of the outstanding new features in this version is the Curve Freeze function, which freezes the editing process when the audio signal falls below an adjustable threshold. This ensures that sonic integrity is maintained even in complex live environments or dynamic performances. The addition of a Solo option to the Node display also allows for more targeted editing of frequency ranges.
Compatible with popular platforms such as eMotion LV1, SuperRack SoundGrid, SuperRack Performer and Avid VENUE | S6L, Curves Equator Live provides a flexible solution for almost any live application. Music producers also benefit from mix-ready vocal sounds that ensure perfect results during recording. By including the new plugin with every purchase of the main plugin, this technology is now available to even more of you.
You can get both plugins here at Thomann* at an introductory price of $34.00 / £32.00 / 39.00€ instead of $79.99 / €79.00. For more information, visit the manufacturer’s product page.
Waves Curves Equator
[25 September 2024] Waves Audio has announced a new series of plugins that will literally revolutionise the way you use equalisers. Called the Curves Spectral Series, three plug-ins will be released that take the tedious work out of equalisation by automating the task. The first plug-in in the series, Equator, will be released in September 2024. It specialises in the suppression of resonance and offers a completely new approach to equalisation technology.
EQ has Never been Easier
The central idea behind the series is to take the technical aspects of EQ editing out of the hands of the user. According to Product Manager Shai Fishman, EQ technology has not evolved much in the last 30 years, and Waves is looking to fill that gap with the Curves series. What makes the Curves plug-ins so special is that they use artificial intelligence to analyse the frequencies of the audio material and automatically correct or adjust them.
Fishman describes this as a kind of “self-learning equaliser”. This means that the plug-in not only removes resonances, but is also capable of performing a variety of EQ processes on its own, without the user having to deal with technical details such as Q’s or frequencies and nodes.
The first plug-in in the series, Curves Equator, stabilises and protects the sound from interference by analysing it and making automatic corrections. Two more plug-ins will follow by 2025. One will focus on classic EQ functions, while the third will offer an EQ matching function. This combination will allow users to fine-tune their mixes and even achieve specific sonic goals by letting the software automatically adjust the listening experience.
Intelligent EQ with Artificial Intelligence
Another notable feature of Curves is the user interface, which has been intuitively designed to give the user maximum control with minimum effort. Plug-ins provide simple controls that drive complex technology, dramatically simplifying the sound shaping process. Waves has created an easy-to-use solution that is suitable for beginners and experienced users alike.
The release of Curves Equator marks an important step in the development of AI-driven audio tools. Waves itself is a signatory to the ‘Principles for Music Creation with AI’, which call for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in music production. The principles aim to ensure that music creators remain in control of their work and can use the technology as a supportive tool. And that’s exactly what Curves is.
Curves: Your new EQ partner?
Waves is positioning Curves as the next evolution in EQ technology. Not only is it supposed to be more precise and efficient, it is also supposed to put the fun back into audio editing. With a combination of automated sound enhancement and creative flexibility, Waves promises that the Curves series will change the workflow of music producers forever. We are excited! And, as always, we will keep you posted.

This is great, but Izotope Ozone has been used in exactly the same way for several years now. But maybe this will be better. You have to try it.
I tried Ozone and never got acceptable results. I think a human ear is still the way to go for EQing.
