The BOSE L1 series is designed so that you can carry your own PA system, in one trip, and set up in minutes. You can forget about carrying heavy speaker boxes and separate monitors; the BOSE L1 serves as both a PA system and monitors all in one neat, simple package. Now, you might be looking at the L1 and asking “how can something so small possibly fill a room with good quality sound”?

It’s a fair question, but remember that BOSE has decades of experience in compact loudspeaker design. The L1 uses the line-array principle with compact high-mid drivers coupled to an integrated subwoofer. The result is that overall, everyone in the room hears the same sound regardless of where they’re stood.

Which system is for Me?

Let’s break this down into the raw facts so you can decide which version suits you best! There are two main variants of the L1: the Model 1S and the Model 2. The Model 1S offers enough power for audiences of up to 300 people whereas the Model 2’s extra power is good for 500 people.

The Model 2 also lets you use take advantage of BOSE’s Tonematch mixer system and link an additional subwoofer. Talking of subwoofers, there are two different subwoofer setups on offer. The B1 bass module, ideal for lighter acoustic artists and the larger B2 bass module which gives more kick for DJs and more demanding gigs.

We’d advise you choose the right combination of subwoofer with either a 1S or Model 2 based system depending on your budget, mixer requirements and venue size. There are only very limited stocks available and as a toothy mouthed salesman might say “when they’re gone, they’re gone”!
