The Sennheiser E 906 is also designed for instruments such as electric guitars, snare drums and brass instruments and is a practical alternative to the SM57. The UT FET47 from United Studio Technologies is based on a classic microphone – the Neumann U47. It uses a custom-built Cinemag transformer and the HZ Series capsule developed by Eric Heiserman. It also features vintage polystyrene capacitors and NOS (New Old Stock) FETs. Extras such as a switchable high-pass filter and -10dB pad are also included. If you are looking for an affordable alternative to the U47, the UT FET47 is definitely worth a look. Save on audio interfaces from Universal Audio and Tascam
An audio interface is at least as essential as a microphone – in fact, no modern studio can do without one. The choice is huge, as you can see from the two models available in the Recording Deals.

All in all, a very solid USB audio interface that is now available from Thomann* for €309 (instead of €329).
SSL Bus+ and Universal Audio 6176
If you are looking for something special for your studio, look no further than these two units from SSL and Universal Audio. Neither is cheap, but they will certainly add value to your studio. Definitely something for the discerning professional.
The SSL Bus+ is a compressor with the legendary SSL bus compressor sound. It can be heard on countless hits and is available here in the very latest design. There are four modes of operation for stereo processing, S/C stereo, dual mono and mid-side. The character of the compression can also be switched. Extras such as a 2-band EQ and transient expander are also included. And the Mix controller makes parallel compression easy. Instead of 2099 Euros, you now pay 1949 Euros for a few days at Thomann*.
You’ll save almost €1000 on this gem: the aptly named Universal Audio 6176 channel strip combines the 610B tube microphone preamp with the legendary 1176LN compressor in a single unit.
