Like Stutter Edit, BreakTweaker Expanded was created in a collaboration between iZotope and producer BT. The instrument itself is a kind of sample shredder, splicer and rhythm generator. The plug-in generates sounds from samples. At its heart lies a versatile sequencer for all plug-in parameters. With it, you can create individual patterns and chain them into complete songs. So this is a real drum machine with modern functionality.
Sample loops are sliced into individual pieces and then manipulated to create new grooves. The extended drum design function is really cool. Here, you can create your own drum sounds out of two wavetable oscillators, just like a synthesizer. The audio is then ran through an effects section, which includes distortion, mangling and morphing (modulation with envelopes and LFOs), as well as filters and other kinds of effects processors.
