Dinosaur Jr tones on tap with the Wren and Cuff J Mascis Garbage Face
The new Wren and Cuff J Mascis Garbage Face is a collaboration with the Dinosaur Jr frontman and combines two of his favourite vintage effect pedals into one boutique, face-melting, purple box of joy!
Wren and Cuff J Mascis Garbage Face
This little boutique purple box was designed in conjunction with Dinosaur Jr frontman J Mascis and is based on his preferred way of boosting his guitar tone in a live band scenario. The unit essentially combines J’s favourite old 1970’s Electro Harmonix ‘Rams Head’ Big Muff fuzz with a germanium Rangemaster-style treble booster in one compact modern pedal.
The Garbage Face has five knobs (for volume, tone and gain controls), plus a treble booster voicing switch, three footswitches that activate the fuzz and the treble booster, and one that enables switching between the two output volumes.
You also get the typical J-style cutesy graphics on the front and, of course, it’s purple!
Waiting List
If you’re interested in getting one for yourself, bad news. You have to get on a waiting list for this pedal. I myself tried to get one from the first batch, but in vain. Unfortunately, it sold out in about a nanosecond, so it is obviously in high demand already.
Dinosaur Jr tone
Whether or not you are a Dinosaur Jr fan, it sounds like it should be a pretty decent fuzz/dirt pedal. I’m a huge fan of the band, and if you are chasing that famous J Mascis sound, check out this article I wrote a few years ago on how to obtain his core tones.
You can always console yourself with reading my article whilst you wait inline for your pedal. If you follow my link below you can put your name down on the list for one today.
