DJ.Studio Is a DJ DAW

When it comes to DAWs, DJs and producers have very different needs. Producers are concerned with creating tracks, but DJs need to organize already finished songs into a seamless mix. Until very recently, DJs had to make do with producer DAWs like Ableton Live. Not any more. Now there are dedicated DJ DAWs like Density and DJ.Studio.

Prepare Your Mixes in a DAW Environment

As the name suggests, DJ.Studio is way for DJs to prepare mixes in the studio in a DAW environment. You can import playlists from rekordbox and other major DJ apps with the AI-powered mix function, lay out tracks across the timeline, automate volume and effects, and even use VST plugins. It’s a solid option for club DJs who want to craft polished mixes for Soundcloud, audition transitions in a controlled environment, make mashups, or record a radio show.

DJ.Studio Updates to 3.0

The latest rev is now out. In version 3.0, the developers have improved AI beat detection so that it works with any musical genre, not just dance music, “from steady-tempo EDM and old analog disco to complex rhythms like afro beats, jazz, blues, and even classical music,” they said.

The AI-powered Automix feature is now called Harmonize. This feature will optimize the order of your playlist based on tempo and harmonic matching. It’s also 15 times faster now.

The FX pack, which is included in the Pro + Stems and Ultimate packages, has been beefed up, letting you add effects like filters, echo, and reverb into customizable effect blocks, move or drag effects into transitions, and also save your favorite effects as presets.

Lastly, 3.0 now offers Loopcloud integration. Those with a Loopcloud subscription can use the Loopcloud Sounds Plugin to drag and drop sounds directly into the timeline. It also includes a free Loopcloud sample pack plus a free two-month trial of the service.
