Dreadbox Disorder fuzz pedal with a self-oscillating filter
New aggressive fuzz pedal from Dreadbox
The new Dreadbox Disorder fuzz pedal is the latest effect unit from the company known for making synthesisers and effects. It has some pretty unique features which should please all the stompbox dirtbox lovers out there.
Self-oscillating Filter
The Dreadbox Disorder is a fairly aggressive sounding fuzz pedal. Though it also has the ability to tweak the tones even further than a lot of pedals. This vintage transistor gated fuzz has the ability to get the filter self-oscillating and they claim it also has an unlimited volume boost, plus a pair of patch points accessible via CV.
Low Pass & High Pass
The filter on the pedal accommodates both low pass and high pass via a single knob that sets the cutoff amount of the filters. Further controls cover Resonance for the filter, Fuzz and Volume. Along with a toggle switch for the envelope’s polarity. Dreadbox states that this will work well on both regular guitars and bass guitars. Giving examples of great low end response for bass guitars, and screaming high pass for guitars. Pair this with the onboard Envelope Filter and it all adds up to a pretty expressive fuzz pedal.
Creative Fuzz Tones
The pedal is powered by an external 9V power supply and is an all analogue circuit. Having the CV patch points for filter and the envelope out with a sensitivity control, should make this a pretty expressive fuzz for creative musicians.
The video demos below show a good few decent usable fuzz tones, plus some pretty full on aggressive ones as well. I currently, don’t own any Dreadbox effects pedals myself. Though I do own their Nyx V2 analogue synth which I have always found a lot of fun to use. I would expect this Disorder fuzz pedal to have a similar fun factor, which cold be great for inspiring new music.
