Dreadbox Murmux Adept: Polyphonic Analog Synth

It’s been two years since a mysterious front panel surfaced at Superbooth that set the rumor mill in motion. Was Dreadbox working on an 8-voice variant of the (long-discontinued) Murmux? Now we finally know more: the new Dreadbox Murmux Adept is here!

More Information

According to Wikipedia, “an adept is an individual identified as having attained a specific level of knowledge, skill, or aptitude”. Seemingly, the Murmux has now passed the initiation rituals and returns as an 8-voice polyphonic analog synth.

And it turns out that the panel from two years ago did in fact belong to the Murmux Adept. The synth has two VCOs per voice with various waveforms and waveshaping. Oscillator sync is also available, as is a detune parameter. In addition to a 24 dB lowpass filter, there’s a 6 dB highpass, as well as a low frequency booster. For modulation, the Murmux Adept offers two ADSR envelopes and two LFOs. One of these is polyphonic, the other monophonic. Filter FM is also possible.

Furthermore, the synth comes with a couple of built-in effects. There’s an analog, BBD-based chorus/flanger and comb filter, as well as a hybrid stereo delay. Speaking of stereo, you’ll find a handy knob for adjusting the stereo width next to the main volume. For control, the desktop synth offers MIDI In/Out and USB MIDI. 150 patches can be stored.

Price and availability

The Dreadbox Murmux Adept is limited to just 300 units (it even says so on the synth itself). You can now order it from Thomann* for €2699.
