Sacha Dunable, owner of the guitar line that bears his name, has just announced a new, more affordable line of instruments. The launch models for the DE line are the Cyclops and R2 models. Dunable’s DE series will be manufactured in South Korea to cut manufacturing costs and lower the price for the end customer. And if that’s still too expensive for you, there’s even an introductory offer for early birds.

Dunable DE Cyclops and R2

First, the specs. The Cyclops DE and the R2 DE are standardised versions of the highly customizable USA versions. Both come with 25.5″ scale lengths and a pair of their dual humbuckers with coil-splits routed via one Volume and one Tone control. The body and neck on both models are mahogany; the neck has white binding and side dots. Hardware options are offered only on the pickups (high-output Dunable Cthulhu as standard), tuners and case.

Cutting Costs and Colours

Each model comes in two colour options. The Cyclops DE is available in either Gloss Black or Tobacco Sunburst while the R2 DE comes in Matte Black or Tobacco Sunburst. On its USA versions, Dunable lets you specify your own colour, and offers the R2 and Cyclops in both polyurethane and nitro lacquer finishes. As we saw on the pickups and hardware, the colour options on the DE versions are far more limited, which helps keep the price down. And it’s that low price that will appeal to players who want the look and feel of the American-built versions at a more wallet-friendly price point.

Introductory Pricing

Dunable is launching this new DE range with a $200 discount off the regular prices. So if you get in early, the deal becomes even more attractive. Pre-orders should start shipping in Spring 2021 and I really look forward to hearing some reviews from players. I think they both look ace! Sacha Dunable is a seasoned touring musician who has built a great reputation, so I doubt he will want to make big compromises on quality that would tarnish his brand.
