Roland sneaks out a soft launch of their DWe software, DW Soundworks, to their Roland Cloud Ultimate tier subscribers, opening up a world of acoustic drums for them.

When Roland acquired DW Drums in October of 2022, it seemed a good fit to bring that highly respected acoustic drum brand under the powerful umbrella of the Japanese giant. Shortly after that, DW launched their innovative DWe range, a collection of convertible acoustic drums that could double up as a set of e-Drums with not a lot of effort.

Ground-breaking Acoustic/Electronic Drums

This hybrid concept went even further by introducing a zero-latency wireless connection protocol, making the transition from acoustic to electric even more simple and clean. To complement the new hardware, DW launched DW Soundworks as its computer-based drum brain. This software took advantage of Roland’s already well established Roland Cloud platform, as you would expect it to.

DW Soundworks Now in Ultimate Subscription

Well, now it seems DW and Roland have quietly slipped the plugin and six core drum libraries into the top-tier Ultimate subscription on Roland Cloud. This means that if you’re subscribed to that plan, at around the cost of $199 USD annually, you can now get access to this powerful drum plugin and its high-quality libraries.

The software is pretty straightforward to set up and use and allows for complete customisation of your kits. Choose from four of DW’s own kits or a nice Gretsch or Slingerland. Roland have also made a further library available for free in the form of Metal Legacy.
