Dwarfcraft Gold Standard Eau Claire Thunder: A limited run of only 73 units
Designed with germanium diodes and NOS Fairchild 2n5133 transistors.
Dwarfcraft has unveiled the Gold Standard Eau Claire Thunder, limited to only 73 units worldwide. The Gold Standard was designed with germanium diodes and NOS Fairchild 2n5133 transistors.
The pedal has a Volume, Tone, Trim and Distortion knobs, plus Time Warp switch and a regular Bypass and a Tone Blast foot switch! It has top mounted jacks and a smaller box, so is a bit friendlier with your average pedal board too.
Boutique Dirt
The component choices are not the same as the standard version. The gain is lower than on the standard version, and the result is a ‘warmer’ circuit that’s a touch more ‘woolly’. That may make it more versatile. Listening to the demos available, the Gold Standard Eau Claire Thunder seems a warm-sounding boutique dirt/fuzz box that could be perfect for your down-tuned riffs and sludgey guitar chords.
It is certainly an acquired taste, but it appeals to my sensibilities. I quite like the tones this thing creates. You really should check out the official Dwarfcraft demo video below to hear it in action, as it gives a decent overview of what it can do.
As usual, with such a limited run, I have a feeling that these will sell out really quickly and probably end up on Reverb being sold on at a premium. If you want one, I would seriously suggest that you should not hang around. Just go order one now, dammit!
RRP – USD 229
