The latest Sunn O))) Life Pedal V3 is as the name suggests the third iteration of the doom stompbox. With a newly updated circuit and a fancy paint job. But will this one sell out as the last versions did?

Yes, the new Sunn O))) Life Pedal V3 is officially here and brings new levels of doom to the already pretty epic box of amp-smashing gain and fuzziness. As with the previous incarnations of the pedal, this one contains the Pro Co Rat-style distortion and Shin-Ei-style Octave Fuzz effects. Plus, it has access to Symmetrical Silicon, Asymmetrical Silicon and LED, plus OpAmp Drive clipping options.

So what’s new?
This new V3 version of the stompbox now comes with a new footswitch for the octave section and the octave section itself has been re-voiced to add more definition. An update the band wanted and one that should help make this pedal even more fun to use. Plus it uses the EQD Flexi-Switch Technology, allowing momentary engagement of the circuit when the footswitch is held down.

Guitar & Bass
The Life Pedal V3 works equally well on both the guitar and bass, which makes it an interesting dirt box for anyone that likes a heavy distortion or fuzz tone. It is versatile, in its own way. Though it may be too extreme for some players. If you know what Sunn O))) sound like, then you will know exactly what to expect from this pedal.
Not a limited edition?
The price point is not exactly cheap, but for a boutique pedal, it is probably about right. All the previous incarnations of the Life Pedal have sold out pretty quickly. This time though Earthquaker Devices have this version in permanent production.
