EarthQuaker Devices has announced a custom finish for its Afterneath Otherworldly Reverberator. This special edition of the effect launches with an 80-minute retrospective film which tells the story of how its creators stumbled upon its unique algorithm in the first place.
EQD Afterneath Otherworldly Reverberator
The Afterneath Otherworldly Reverberator is one of EarthQuaker Devices‘ oldest, and most popular effects. It is now being made available as a special edition for a limited time, in both pedal and Eurorack formats. This limited-edition run will come in what EQD is calling a brushed metal Retrospective finish.

Stompbox and Modules
The effect is also available as the Afterneath Eurorack Module version. The module has one main audio input and output, an audio send and return for Reflect feedback path, and nine controls. Four of the Afterneath Module’s parameters can be controlled via CV, and each is equipped with its own dedicated inverting attenuator.
The 80 minute long film talks about how EQD founder and lead designer Jamie Stillman accidentally stumbled upon this unique algorithm, whilst experimenting with code that would later become the Afterneath. You can check out the movie below to hear the whole story in full detail.
