The EHX POG 3 brings stereo signal flow, more effects, MIDI functionality, and greatly improved tracking. As far as Octaver is concerned, the Electro Harmonix POG series has long been a strong contender. Could this be the best one yet?

EHX POG 3: What has happened so far

The good old POG 2 came on the market and caused a stir with its excellent pitch tracking, five mixable harmonics, and almost extraterrestrial sounds through the attack control. It is so versatile and good-sounding, and there has been no Octaver for a long time. In the meantime, EHX did not rest on his laurels.

Stereo Total – What’s new in the POG 3?

Not only has the EHX POG 3 been completely redesigned, but the list of new features is also impressive. Compared to the predecessor, there are now six voices for mixing. In addition to the octave and double octave above and below the signal and the dry signal itself, a fifth has been added. For this purpose, the input signal and the master signal can be leveled separately.

In addition, all six voices can be distributed via separate panning controls in the stereo panorama. The new “Spread” control is also used to adjust the total stereo width. Because the EHX POG 3 now delivers a stereo output signal, the direct signal can still be diverted separately into mono.

It also has MIDI-IN and MIDI-OUT with 5-pin connections. Every parameter can be controlled via MIDI and an expression pedal (Expression In is also included). That’s a good thing because compared to the meager eight presets of the predecessor, the EHX POG 3 offers a whopping 100 presets!

Price and Availability

The official MSRP is $645 and should be out soon. Price-wise, for all these features, it ranks well amongst the various forms of EHX POG models.
