Renowned guitar and studio gear brand Electro-Harmonix have released an interesting stompbox called the Tri Parallel Mixer. It functions as a three-channel true-bypass mixer and looper that lets you run up to three FX Loops in parallel, creating sounds that wouldn’t be possible by means of serial connection.

More straightforward uses include signal splitting for up to three destinations or the mixing of three instruments/audio sources into a single output.

Each channel has Send, Return, EQ, and Phase controls, as well as Master Volume and Dry Volume knobs. The stompbox lets you hear its three channels simultaneously or switch through them individually in the so-called XOR mode.

I think this box can turn out to be a nifty little problem solver and could find its place inside an experimental performer’s rig. At USD 139, the Tri Parallel Mixer is not an impulse purchase, though. You ought to have a pretty good idea of how you are going to use it before plonking the cash.
