qube-shaped Monitor Management: elysia xpector
A new monitor matrix for the producer age.
The elysia xpector is a new professional monitoring solution for modern DAW-based production workflows in the compact qube desktop format.
If you’ve come across elysia before, you’ll know that the German manufacturer prides itself on creating innovative audio solutions ranging from home recording all the way up to high-end mastering applications.
elysia xpector: What can we xpect?
The xpector comes in the form of elysia’s compact qube format, which is basically the size of two adjacent 500-series modules. This makes the xpector a perfect companion for recording artists and producers, even in home and project studios where space may be limited.
The design is different from most monitor controllers you’ll find on the market, as the front panel provides precision controls for setting up monitor mixes for the engineer and artist.
With this in mind, the interface is divided into two parts with dual Class-A headphone preamplifiers. Each channel includes mix levels for the two monitoring paths for direct and DAW monitoring, as well as high and low-shelving filters for sculpting the artist mix, and a trim control for balancing the speaker level.
In addition, there are mute buttons for both channels, an activation button for the speaker outputs on the rear panel (XLR), and a useful button to swap the engineer/artist monitoring channels.
To cater to every situation, there are several monitoring modes including stereo, mono, mid-side, left (solo), and right (solo). What’s more, the stereo-loop outputs allow you to link several xpector units for larger scale operations.
