Endorphin.es x Loopop PLUS 3 – An Actually Useful Synthtuber Collab
A beautifully simple solution that doesn't break the bank
Spanish module maker Endorphin.es teams up with Synthtuber Loopop to create a simple, clever and useful tool, the Endorphin.es x Loopop PLUS 3.
It is increasingly common these days to see our favourite Synthtubers branching out from in front of the camera and into the world of hardware collaboration. I’m guessing it is advantageous to both parties. The developer gets a product in front of a pre-made, pre-validated audience and the Synthtuber gets increased credibility and some income.
Endorphin.es already has form in this regard, having teamed up with Andrew Huang on the Ghost Module & Pedal.
Today, one of the most respected and highly regarded Synthtubers is getting in on the act. Just like his videos, Loopop‘s collaboration with Endorphin.es is incredibly useful and will, I am sure, become as indispensable as his superb video user manuals.
The Endorphin.es x Loopop PLUS 3
The Endorphin.es x Loopop PLUS 3 is about as simple as you can get, and yet it delivers functionality that has, until now, been either expensive or cumbersome, especially for some of the PLUS 3’s target market. So what is PLUS 3 and why is it so useful?
The PLUS 3 is embarrassingly simple. It is an expression and sustain controller. It consists of one slider, one big red button adorned with Loopop’s popcorn logo and a 2-way switch. On the rear are two sockets. One is for expression and one is for sustain. PLUS 3 is an expression and sustain controller in a compact tabletop box. That’s it. Oh, apart from a few cables to hook it up to your hardware.
PLUS 3 is completely passive so there are no power cables to get in the way. The supplied cables allow for connecting to traditional expression and sustain ports on synths as well as Eurorack, effects pedals, MIDI controllers and more. That’s it. Oh, actually, no it isn’t. What’s that switch for?
Drone Mode
I’m glad you asked. It’s a ‘Drone Mode Toggle’. It changes the functionality of the large, red momentary switch to allow users to indefinitely sustain notes, and change those notes to new ones until it is deactivated. Housed in a sturdy aluminium case, the sustain key can be swapped out for one of your choice, if you so wish.
The Endorphin.es x Loopop PLUS 3 is fiendishly clever, simple and affordable. Priced at just €78, it is perfect for musicians for whom expression and sustain pedals don’t fit into their modus operandi. I’m thinking DAWless jammers or people with compact, portable setups. It’s a brilliant little tool and I’m buying one!

WTF is a synthtuber? We now live in the age of a billion useless titles!🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Anyone with a soldering iron probably has 2 or 3 similar things already. This is an extremely simple DIY build, because it’s completely passive. The only outstanding thing is the fader, DIY builds typically use knobs, because it’s not so easy cutting an opening for a fader into a hammond box. Literally all you need is 2 sockets, a STDT switch, a potentiometer, a 3-pin-button and some wire. $3 in parts plus a box.
