Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior: A punk rock classic?
New Epiphone signature model for Green Day frontman
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong gets a new signature model Les Paul Junior from Epiphone. It comes in a Classic White finish and is fitted with a powerful PRO P-90 pickup.
Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior
Based on Floyd, which is Billy Joe Armstrong’s 1956 Les Paul Junior, this new signature model should please the fans. These new Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior signature models look very similar to his long discontinued Gibson model, except rather than being black or sunburst, these come in a Classic White finish. We did get a humbucker-loaded version from Gibson back in 2018, but I don’t believe that one is as desirable as the original P90 version.
The single-pickup model is powered by an Epiphone PRO P-90 in the bridge position, wired via a single volume and tone control. Epiphone has used CTS pots, so it should help it stay free from crackles. The Epiphone PRO P-90 pickup is wound hot and is fully wax potted, therefore it should avoid any microphonic feedback.
Simple = Tone
With a traditional mahogany body and matching Vintage 50s profile neck, plus a 12″ radius Indian Laurel fretboard, it is perfect for banging out classic rock, blues, and punk tunes. So if you fancy a nice simple guitar layout, that allows you to get on with playing, then this Les Paul Junior style is perfect for just that. No frills, just tone.
The neck has 22 medium jumbo frets and a GraphTech nut, along with a set of Epiphone’s Vintage Deluxe tuners. The only other hardware is a wrap-around Lightning Bar bridge. This makes this guitar about as simple as you can get, which is a huge bonus in many ways.
Leopard Print
Each guitar has Billy Joe’s signature embossed on the rear of the headstock and comes in a custom hardshell case. Expect a leopard print interior for the case.

One response to “Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior: A punk rock classic?”
Seemed a bit expensive for a single pickup import guitar, but then considering it does come with a case, might not actually be a bad deal. Looks fun to play!
