Epiphone Dave Grohl spotted: Could we see an affordable DG-335?
Looks like there is about to be an Epiphone DG-335
This Epiphone Dave Grohl model has been spotted online. Dave Grohl has in the past had a signature Gibson model that is based on the Trini Lopez model. It looks like we may well see an affordable version sometime soon.
Epiphone Dave Grohl
The Foo Fighters appeared in a photo on NME’s Instagram feed over the weekend and in the photograph Dave Grohl is clearly holding an Epiphone-branded guitar.
A guitar which looks suspiciously like his Gibson DG-335 signature model.
Trini Lopez
The Gibson Dave Grohl was based on the Trini Lopez model from the 1960s and has diamond shapes rather than f-holes, as part of the semi-hollow construction.
Dave’s version came in Pelham Blue, Ebony and Metallic Gold finishes and is no longer in production. This means second-hand prices have soared in recent years, with one Pelham Blue model listed recently on Reverb for $19k!
Foo Fighters
The Foo Fighters were back playing live at Boston Calling over the weekend and Dave could be seen on stage playing his trademark Gibson model. Yet, the press image shows him wielding the new Epiphone.
Therefore, I would hazard a guess that there will be an official Epiphone announcement sometime in the near future. Because some serious marketing is definitely at work here.
Comments from Foo Fighter fans on the NME’s Instagram post suggest that many are hoping that it won[t be too long a wait for one to be revealed.

If they made an Epiphone Trini Lopez (with the tailpiece) they’d have to shut up and take my money.
