Epiphone Jerry Cantrell Wino and Prophecy Les Paul Customs
New Alice In Chains guitarist signature model Wino and Prophecy announced
The Epiphone Jerry Cantrell “Wino” Les Paul Custom has finally been officially announced, and it looks pretty similar to the super expensive limited edition Gibson Custom Shop. We first heard news about this guitar earlier this year. And now it is finally here at last, along with the new bone white Prophecy model. Which is a more modern take on Cantrell’s signature Les Paul Custom.
Jerry Cantrell Wino Les Paul Custom
This more wallet-friendly version of the Jerry Cantrell “Wino” Les Paul Custom is made by Epiphone. Hopefully, it will make a lot of Alice In Chains fans happy, as it will be a lot easier to get a hold of than the Gibson Custom Shop release.
Specifications
It comes finished in a Dark Wine Red finish over a plain maple top and it has a 9-hole weight-relieved mahogany body. You also get a mahogany neck that has a Cantrell custom taper and an ebony fretboard.. Other notable specifications includes all gold hardware, a set of Grover Rotomatic Kidney tuners, plus a pair of Alnico Classic PRO humbuckers. With an uncovered bridge pickup, matched with a gold covered neck pickup.
Value For Money?
Other details include Jerry Cantrell’s name that appears on the guitars truss rod cover in a white script, plus a JJ logo appears on the back of the headstock. The guitar also ships in a custom hardshell case with Cantrell’s name on.
The official price of USD $849 is not bad for what you get, and a lot cheaper than the previous Gibson version. Which I thought was seriously overpriced for what it was. Check out the official Epiphone demo video below to hear it in action. It looks like it could be a great Les Paul Custom style guitar for a lot less money than a USA built Gibson model. As long as you don’t mind that headstock logo, and things like not having s nitro cellulose finish, etc
Epiphone Jerry Cantrell Les Paul Custom Prophecy
They also announced the new Jerry Cantrell Les Paul Custom Prophecy which is essentially a more modern style Les Paul Custom This one comes in a bone white finish, and has a set of Fishman Fluence pickups. The pickups have extra voicing via push/pull pots on the guitar for more modern and more PAF like humbucker, plus single-coil tones. It also departs slightly, as it comes with 24 jumbo frets whereas the Wino model above has the regular 22 medium jumbo frets.
