Epiphone Jim James ES-335 in a Walnut finish
My Morning Jacket frontman get new Epiphone signature model
The new Jim James ES-335 follows on from the Gibson release from 2021. This Epiphone ’70s-style Walnut 335 is far more affordable and comes with a few subtle nods to the My Morning Jacket frontman and guitarist.
Jim James ES-335
The Epiphone Jim James ES-335 uses a five-ply laminated maple body finished in a Walnut gloss.
It features Jim James’ custom profile, based around a SlimTaper C shape and is fitted with an Indian Laurel fretboard. It has 22 medium jumbo frets and a Graph Tech nut.
Hardware
The guitars hardware includes a set of vintage-style Kluson waffle back tuners, a set of witch hat control knobs and an Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge.
This 335 model comes with a pair of Epiphone’s Alnico Pro humbuckers and uses CTS pots for wiring and Orange Drop capacitors.
Subtle Signature
This signature model also features an arrow/circle logo on the truss rod cover. It also comes with a hard case, complete with owl artwork. These are all subtle nods to James and make sure that this ’70s style 335 doesn’t scream signature guitar.
Overall, it is a well-specified semi-hollow model and could appeal to anyone that wants a well-priced 335, or anyone that missed out on the more expensive US-built Gibson model.
