Genuine Soundware released an interesting equalizer plug-in called EQuity. What differentiates EQuity from any competent EQ is its IR-based preamp section with impulse responses collected from high-end analog gear. This gives you plenty of sound coloration options in addition to the flexible frequency adjustments.

EQuity features 4 parametric bands with frequency and Q controls, as well as up to 24dB of boost or cut. Bands 1 and 4 can be set to shelving or peak modes of operation. Additionally, there are a high-pass input and low-pass output filters. All adjustments are reflected on an integrated spectrum analyzer.

Each band can be heard in solo mode. You also get stereo input and output peak meters with readout values and switchable hold and release times. The whole interface is freely resizable as well.

Of note is that EQuity has an experimental Linux version, a gesture to the rare Linux-based music producers out there. However, the plug-in is only tested under Ubuntu Studio 20.14.1. So your mileage may vary.

Price and availability

EQuity is priced at a very sane EUR 25 + tax where applicable. Payments are handled over PayPal. The plug-in is available in the following formats:

  • for Windows 7 or later: VST2 x64, VST3 x64, Standalone x64
  • for OSX 10.11 or later: VST2 x64, VST3 x64, Audio Unit x64, Standalone x64
  • for Linux: VST2 x64, VST3 x64, Standalone x64

A free shareware version of the plug-in can be downloaded for each operating system.
