Erica Synths Perkons HD-01 hit by component shortages
The super-exciting Perkons HD-01 drum machine that was the star of Superbooth has run into trouble with finding micro-controllers. But Erica Synths has a plan!
Perkons predicament
Erica Synths has announced a delay to the much anticipated Perkons drum machine. In a press release from the HQ in Latvia, the company stated that they were promised a supply of a particular micro-controller for September but they didn’t materialise. Delivery dates kept getting pushed and now Erica Synths has been told that they won’t be available until late 2022. That’s terribly frustrating!
Perkons HD-1 is a 4-voice hybrid drum machine that uses a digital sound engine with analogue filters and overdrive. Each voice has its own lane on the impressive button step-sequencer and it’s packed with modulation, compression and a BBD delay.
Erica Synths says that it made the decision to rework the PCB to function with alternative parts that are available much sooner. We are assured that no compromises will be made and the extra time will be invested in continued development so that Perkons will be even more awesome than it was.
Pre-orders should open in early 2022 and they hope to have a new demo of the new, updated machine very soon.
