Erica Synths Pico Voice: 8 algorithm physical modelling synth voice
Erica Synths have announced the latest module in their Pico range. The Pico Voice is a complete synthesised sound source in a tiny 3hp package. It was revealed at the Ginko Modular Fest at The Hague and you can check out the demo in the video below. More, official demos should emerge when it’s released next week.
Pico Voice
The Pico Voice is a physical modelling module that provides 8 different sound generation algorithms. It’s a surprisingly wide selection of sounds: Karplus Strong, Chords, Wavetable, TB303, PWM, Supersaw, Wavefold and Harmonic saturation. Each algorithm has three adjustable parameters, starting with tuning, and you can pump in some CV to control one of the other two.
It has a CV input for 1v/oct and a trigger input to fire the internal VCA. Without the trigger patched it will produce a sustained, drone. Like with the Pico DSP the algorithm selection is colour coded on the LED. And lastly, you can save your edits. It’ll be fiddly, like all Pico modules, but they somehow manage to pack in a load of functionality that adds greatly to a rack without taking up much space.
The Pico Voice should be available next week for €120. More information on the Erica Synths website.

The only physical modeling algorithm is the karplus strong as far as I can tell. Sensational headline!
