The latest box to blast off from the Error Instruments laboratory is the Invader Box chiptune synthesizer full of alien noises, arcade beeps and heaps of glitchy character.

I love a good Error Instruments user manual. This one seems to say that you should twiddle the knobs and bash the buttons – fair enough! That’s really all you need to know.
Basically it’s a box of vintage game sounds with three knobs that will tweak the sound generating algorithms. There are a pair of buttons to step through the algorithms and a CV input that probably controls something.
They say it’s very good at minimal blips, microtones, experimental glitches and stuff like that and who are we to argue?
It can run off a 9v battery, has a single mono output and looks really nice. Sounds like a complete riot – check this out:
