EVH Limited Edition Star an outrageous shred guitar
Inspired by the Charvel Star
These EVH Limited Edition Star models were inspired by his old Charvel Star. They even have the coke-bottle 3×3 headstock that pays homage to Eddie Van Halen’s original Danelectro hybrid design.
EVH Limited Edition Star
This EVH Limited Edition Star model is a real classic, but will no doubt divide opinion, as they are pretty crazy design-wise.
Shred Specifications
They are made with a solid basswood body, with bolt-on EVH Modified “C” profile quartersawn maple necks and a 12” to 16” compound radius ebony fretboard fitted with 22 jumbo frets. The neck has a satin urethane finish on the back for a smooth drag free feel.
Offset
That offset body is based on the Charvel Star with a Danelectro coke-bottle 3×3 headstock shape.
This Floyd Rose 100-equipped guitar with an EVH D-Tuna and a single EVH Wolfgang humbucker will no doubt shred nicely. This model also has a set of EVH-branded Gotoh tuners.
Kill Switch
The controls consist of a single low-friction 500K Volume Bourns volume pot and a treble bleed circuit which makes for a very minimal setup, perfect for this style of guitar.
Plus, there is a bright red arcade button-style kill switch on the lower horn for adding stutter effects.
The Star is available in Matte Army Drab, Primer Gray and Stealth Black finishes. With the latter available with either black or gold hardware.
Verdict
This is a pretty outrageous body shape for a guitar and so you will need to be confident to wield one down the Dog & Duck on a Friday night.
If you like a shred guitar, but want something a little more subdued you may be better off with the new EVH Frankenstein Relic Series instead.

Why is the killswitch so far away? It should have been placed at the top front, shorter and more easily accessible.
