The Star Limited Edition is EVH Gear’s modern take on the guitar that Eddie Van Halen made famous and one that he used to get that early Van Halen sound.
Star Limited Edition
This EVH Star Limited Edition will undoubtedly divide opinions, as it has a distinctive body shape and isn’t anything like most other standard guitars.
If you like Strats, Teles, or Les Pauls, this model may not be for you.
Tune-O-Matic
It follows the 2023 limited run, which included Matte Army Drab, Primer Gray, and Stealth Black finishes.
Silverburst
It will be released in Silverburst in 2024 and has almost the exact specifications as previous models, except that this year, it comes with a Tune-O-Matic bridge with a Stop Tail rather than a locking Floyd Rose system.
Making it a hardtail guitar will completely change this model’s feel so that it will appeal to a different audience.
Wolfgang
This model is based on a single EVH Wolfgang bridge humbucker mounted to a basswood body. The pickup is controlled by a single Volume (500K EVH Bourns Low Friction Pot) with a Treble Bleed Circuit and a red arcade button-style Kill Switch.
It has a bolt-on quartersawn maple Modified “C” Backshape neck with a smooth, hand-rubbed Satin Urethane finish on the back for an extra slick feel. Plus, an ebony 12″ to 16″ compound radius fretboard fitted with 22 jumbo frets and a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut.
The neck also has a heel-mounted spoke wheel adjustment and a hockey stick-style headstock with a set of EVH-branded Gotoh tuners. All the hardware on this model is black, which suits the Silverburst finish well.
Verdict
It is built for fast playing, and with the Star body shape and Silverburst finish, it will stand out from the crowd. I’m sure it won’t appeal to everyone, but fans of Van Halen who want a modern interpretation of this guitar will love that Silverburst finish. A hardtail guitar should be rock-solid when shredding, which is also a huge bonus.
