With the right tools, creating cool beats and grooves can be a real pleasure. Excite Audio wants to help you with the Bloom Drum Machine. The plugin combines a sample player and a collection of (classic) drum sounds with a sophisticated sequencer and selected effects. And the plugin tops it all off with a fancy interface. And all of this at a great price.

More Information

Bloom Drum Machine consists of various one-shot samples of drum machines from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Of course, all the classics are included and everything has been recorded and refined with analog gear.

Not only do you get sounds from analog legends like the 808 or 909, but also some digital rhythm machines, drum and percussion sounds from rare keyboards, and samples from modern drum synthesizers. All this is complemented by various loops. Of course, you can also add your own sounds to the samples and edit them in the sample edit section.

The interface itself looks very simple at first glance. Animated “blocks” in isometric views visualize the sound coming out of Bloom Drum Machine, four macro controls take care of the parameters Drive, Modulation, Static (for a sound with more “crunch”) and Lo-Fi.

A Sequencer With Extras

The sequencer is the most interesting part of Bloom. Not only can you assign drum sounds to individual steps, but you can also adjust various parameters for them – it’s reminiscent of Elektron! For example, you can change the probability for each step and manipulate pitch, velocity, filter settings, attack and release, or timing.

The sequencer can play in different directions if you want – not only forward and backward, but also like a pendulum in both directions or even loop a passage. There are also functions like track step rate, sync, swing, steps, latch and beat retrigger. Bloom Drum Machine offers enough options to let you express yourself creatively!

In addition, three effects can be controlled from the sequencer: reverb, dynamics, and bitcrush. All offer the most important parameters for the desired FX sound.

If you like creating beats and grooves, Bloom Drum Machine is a relatively inexpensive way to do it.
