Fender Custom Shop works with Leica to create the Andy Summers Monochrome Strat
New limited edition Andy Summer Stratocaster
The former Police guitarist has worked with Fender Custom Shop to create this limited edition guitar inspired by his love of photography. It certainly is an eye-catching instrument and will certainly turn heads.
Andy Summers Monochrome Strat
This new limited edition run Andy Summers Monochrome Strat was born from a collaboration between Leica, Fender Custom Shop and the former Police guitarist.
Monochrome Master Builder
Created by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Dennis Galuszka, it features a two-piece alder body with a unique collage body wrap, the Monochrome Stratocaster features a NOS urethane finish one-piece riftsawn maple neck with ’63 C neck profile, a classic 7.25-inch fingerboard radius and 21 medium-vintage frets. The 15th fret features the iconic Leica ‘red dot’ inlay and the control knobs are also taken from Leica’s camera designs.
The guitars all have hand-wound Custom Shop ‘60s Strat pickups and use Modified #2 wiring. Hardware wise you get an American Vintage synchronized tremolo, bone nut and wing string tree, plus a clear pickguard so you can see all the images on the guitars body.
Limited Edition
The run is limited to 50 guitars world-wide and each one costs $12,500, which is still cheaper than a Leica M MONOCHROM “Signature” camera which retails at around $14995.
Unique!
You do of course get Andy Summers signature on the neck plate, plus a Custom Shop hardcase and a Fender-inspired camera strap. It isn’t cheap, but at least it is unique, unlike some of the Masterbuilt relic models from Fender Custom Shop, that we wrote about earlier this week!
RRP – USD 12500
