Fender Cyclone is back – Japanese limited-run

Fender Japan has re-released the Cyclone as a limited run and brings this cult classic offset guitar back with upgrades in five classic finishes.
Fender Cyclone
The Fender Cyclone model, which debuted in the late 90s and was built in Mexico, is a bit of a cult classic. The offset body is a mesh of the Mustang and Duo-Sonic. But with a Stratocaster tremolo system and an HS pickup layout.
Fender did release a Squier version in the early 2000s. However, there hasn’t been a Fender-badged version for quite some time. Originals featured a poplar body, that was slightly thicker than a standard Mustang and had a 24.75″ scale length, the same as a typical Gibson model.
Updated & Upgraded
This new limited run has an alder body and is available in Lake Placid Blue, Fiesta Red, White Blonde, 3-Color Sunburst, and Butterscotch Blonde finishes.
They have a modern C maple 24.75″ scale length neck and a 9.5″ radius fretboard in either rosewood or maple. The necks are fitted with 22 medium jumbo frets and a bone nut. The guitar has a Stratocaster tremolo system and a set of vintage-style tuners.
Cyclone Pickups
They have a Fender Japan-designed custom MIJ Cyclone bridge humbucker and a single-coil neck pickup in an HS configuration. These are controlled via a three-way selector switch, master volume, and master tone controls.
Verdict
The reissue of this much-loved offset model will please many Fender fans. Hopefully, they will get a wider release worldwide soon, as they are a bit of a cult classic amongst offset guitar fans.
