Finneas O’Connell, brother, producer and co-songwriter of Billie Eilish, is releasing his very own signature guitar together with Fender: the Fender Finneas Acoustasonic Player Telecaster. Just like the other Acoustasonic models, this signature is a hybrid between acoustic and electric – with a few tweaks and additions. There is also a limited edition in white.

Who is Finneas?

Finneas O’Connell may not quite match the fame of his sister Billie Eilish, who just released her third album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” in May. But he has been essential to Billie’s success since her first songs. Finneas has produced and co-written almost all of her songs.

More Information

For most of Billie’s stadium tours, Finneas was also part of her band, mostly with an acoustic guitar or a Tele. He is also touring as a solo artist, and his new album, “For Crying Out Loud,” will be released in October 2024. He just released the lead single of the same name. It’s a perfect fit that the Fender Finneas Acoustasonic is coming out now.

At first glance, I can’t find many differences between the Fender Finneas Acoustasonic and the standard Fender Acoustasonic Tele models, except for the color and a few tweaks. Where the two standard models are available in colors Shadow Burst* and Brushed Black*, Finneas and Fender have opted for Cappuccino Fade as the finish of the Player model.

The wood types used are mahogany for the body and bolt-on neck (Modern Deep C profile), Sitka spruce for the top, and rosewood for the fingerboard. 22 narrow tall frets, closed Fender Standard Staggered tuners, and chrome hardware – pretty much like the standard Player models up until this point.

Pickups and limited edition

The pickups of the acoustic-electric hybrid Fender Finneas Acoustasonic are a Fishman Undersaddle Transducer and a Fender Shawbucker, one of the differences to the standard Acoustasonic Telecaster Player series. Shawbuckers are otherwise only found in the more expensive Acoustasonic Jazzmaster models.

A three-way switch lets you switch between three sound settings: Acoustic, Piezo, and Electric. The volume control allows you to adjust the level while the mod pot below blends in a second timbre, so a total of six different voicings are available.

In addition to the Player edition, a limited edition of the Fender Finneas Acoustasonic in All-Arctic White is also available. This color variant comes with matching black hardware. As for the other differences to the cheaper Player edition, the fingerboard is made of ebony here.

What does the Fender Finneas Acoustasonic Tele cost?

The Fender Finneas Acoustasonic Player Telecaster and the Fender LTD Finneas Acoustasonic Player Telecaster are now available to order from Thomann. The first will be available in about three to four weeks, the limited edition in 14 to 18 weeks.

Thomann* sells the Acoustasonic Player Tele from Fender and Finneas (made in Mexico), which includes a deluxe gig bag. The limited edition with an ebony fingerboard (made in the USA) is also available at Thomann* and it includes a deluxe hard-shell case.
