Fender Japan American Pro II Cabronita

This limited-edition Fender Japan American Pro II Cabronita model departs from the traditional Cabronita design. It features a pair of DiMarzio Vintage Minibucker pickups.

Cabronita Variation

Known for its distinctive Gretsch-inspired Filtertron-style pickups, the original Cabronita has maintained a relatively consistent specification for over a decade. However, Fender Japan’s latest iteration aims to redefine the Cabronita model’s tonal possibilities.

Vintage Minibuckers

The DiMarzio Vintage Minibuckers offer a more versatile sound palette that delivers clean country tones and high-gain rock sounds.

Dimarzio describes them as having chime and shining with extreme levels of amp gain because they don’t get muddy with a distorted amp.

Mahogany

Beyond the pickups, the American Professional II Cabronita Telecaster maintains the series’ core features, including a mahogany body and neck, a Deep C-shaped neck profile, and a hardtail six-saddle bridge. It has 22 medium jumbo frets on a 12″ radius rosewood fretboard with mother-of-pearl dot inlays and a bone nut, so it should play smoothly.

The guitar’s control layout remains simple, with a single volume knob and a three-way switch. It’s pretty much all you really need, so it is stripped back and ready to rock.

These limited-edition models are available in Crimson Transparent and Shoreline Gold finishes. Both options come with a gloss-black painted headstock.

Exclusive

The American Professional II Cabronita Telecaster, including a hard case, is now available exclusively from Fender Japan for 324,500 Japanese Yen (approximately $2,185).

This limited-edition model has also made its way outside the Japanese market, so keep your eyes peeled for it on Thomann.

Verdict

As always, Fender Japan is creating some of the best-looking guitars in the whole Fender lineup worldwide, and they have some exciting models.

They often make the rest of Fender’s output look dull. I already like the Cabronita-style models, so this new slant is welcome. Mini-humbuckers can be fun, and these two finish choices look great.

    Fender Japan American? 😀
They’re USA made I think. Nothing to do with Japan

These are simple, no-frills guitars. I’d imagine they make a nice profit with these, considering the rather high resale prices.
