Fender Japan Hybrid II HSS and SSS Limited Run Stratocasters
Two more Limited Run Hybrid II Strats
Fender Japan Hybrid II models are now available outside of Japan and there are two versions currently on Thomann. These new Stratocasters follow on from the limited-run Sakuraburst and Reverse Headstock models which have just become available in Europe, which means it could be a good year for Japanese Fender guitars.
Hybrid II
This Fender Japan Hybrid II series includes the HSS Stratocaster it has an alder body finished in Shell Pink.
Plus it has a very nice looking roasted maple U-profile neck and roasted maple fretboard with 22 Medium Jumbo frets. I have one of the Japanese Telecaster Deluxe models with the U-profile neck and I find it super comfortable, so I was happy to see this profile being used here.
HSS
It comes with a Modern Modified Type I humbucker in the bridge position and a pair of MIJ Hybrid II Strat single-coils at the middle and neck positions.
It comes with a set of vintage tuners and a 2-point synchronized tremolo with vintage-style stamped steel saddles.

Hybrid II SSB
Then there is the Hybrid II Limited Run SSS version that comes in a Satin Sand Beige finish. This model is fitted with a trio of Hybrid II Custom Voiced single-coil Stratocaster pickups.
It has an alder body paired with a maple C-profile neck and a rosewood fretboard fitted with 22 Narrow Tall frets.
Again like the model above this one has a set of vintage tuners and a 2-point synchronized tremolo with vintage-style stamped steel saddles.
This model is a little more traditional and has a slimmer neck profile, which will suit many players.

Verdict
Great to see more Japanese Fender models available in Europe, especially as these are both limited-run guitars. I’m really hoping we see a lot more like these throughout the year and in the future.
Because they are generally great value for money and I am a huge fan of the Japanese build quality with Fender.
I’m also really looking forward to the new Fender Flagship store opening in Tokyo this summer, as that will no doubt hold a few surprises and special releases to coincide with the opening.
