John Frusciante joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1988 at the age of 18 and quickly made a name for himself in the hearts of fans. His unique style, a harmonious blend of complex funk and soulful sounds, has made him one of the most famous and respected guitarists in the world. Over the years, Frusciante’s 1962 Sunburst Stratocaster has become his signature instrument.
The Limited Edition Fender John Frusciante Stratocaster was meticulously crafted in the Fender Custom Shop by Senior Masterbuilder Paul Waller. Every aspect of the guitar-from the faded, beautifully aged finish to the heavily worn body contours-reflects the authenticity and history associated with Frusciante’s playing style. The numerous dents, dings and scars that adorn this famous Strat® give the player the feeling of holding a true piece of rock ‘n’ roll history.
Outstanding playability and tone
The two-piece alder body of this guitar is not only vibrant, but also contributes to the special dynamics of the instrument. The C-profiled maple neck dates from the early ’60s and is perfectly balanced for a comfortable feel. The rosewood fingerboard is also an excellent example of the coveted golden-era Stratocaster appointments.
A special highlight is the Abigail Ybarra Hand-Wound Stratocaster pickups, which, along with an Ilitch Electronics Hum-Canceling System, deliver the warm, clear and expressive tones that are the hallmark of Frusciante’s distinctive sound. The 7.25″ (184.1 mm) radius and 21 narrow, high-profile 6105 frets provide a comfortable playing experience that is ideal for both fast solos and intricate chord progressions.
The guitar also features vintage Strat wiring, a 5-way switch, vintage-style synchronized tremolo and tuners, a vintage-style bone nut, and a winged string tree with metal spacers. Each buyer will receive a Certificate of Authenticity certifying the guitar’s authenticity and collectibility.
