Fender Mod Shop add Ebony Burst highly figured quilted maple tops
All new finish option added to the Fender Mod Shop
Ebony Burst is the latest new finish option to be offered by Fender. This means you can now build your own Strat or Tele using their Mod Shop service and specify this sleek new finish. If you want to build a fancy looking new custom guitar, then this new finish option is for you.
Ebony Burst
The Fender Ebony Burst finish is the latest custom finish to be added to the Mod Shop. This brand new finish option allows you to create the guitar of your dreams with a very nice highly figured quilted maple top. The quilted maple is then shown off very nicely under the Ebony Burst and does kook pretty very fancy.
Below you can see two prime examples of what your guitar could look like: First is an HSS Stratocaster with a maple fretboard and then there is a Telecaster with a rosewood fretboard. In both of these examples, I think the new Ebony Burst finish option works really well.
Waves
These figured maple tops are very wavey. Fender states in their promotional material that the new finish is both highly limited and highly figured. Therefore, they may not be around forever and so you may want to get ordering soon to avoid any disappointment.
Currently, the Fender Mod Shop is only available in the USA and so anyone outside will not be able to grab one of these. However, if the run is successful, then chances are we will see it in a production model at some point in the future. The last few Mod Shop finishes have been very popular with Fender fans. I can see this latest one being a big hit with fans of figured maple tops, as it adds a touch of class to the guitars.
A quilted maple top in this new finish adds $500 to your order and Fender states a 30 day turnaround time on orders. Currently, at the time of writing, it appears this option is only available for the Stratocaster and Telecaster models.
The only current Fender production model with a quilted maple top that I can remember is the Richie Kotzen Telecaster *. Which is an awesome guitar, and I have owned one for around 12 years now.
