Fender Shawn Mendes Foundation Musicmaster with amazing floral paint job
Fender has teamed up with superstar Shawn Mendes on a one-off guitar called the Shawn Mendes Foundation Musicmaster, described in the press release as a “unique combination of exquisite vintage art and classic Fender tone.” Covered with floral design art, this guitar brings a few modern updates to a classic Fender shape based on the original Musicmaster from the 1960s.
Fender Shawn Mendes Foundation Musicmaster
The Musicmaster was a popular 1960s short-scale design aimed at the learner/stundent market. This new version comes from a partnership between Fender and the Shawn Mendes Foundation, which works with the youth generation of today and helps them to learn about causes that they are passionate about.
“I am so excited to release this guitar collaboration between Fender and The Shawn Mendes Foundation, I hope it inspires some of my fans to pick up and learn guitar for the first time, and give back while doing so.” – Shawn Mendes
Unique Style
The Shawn Mendes signature Musicmaster comes with a unique floral pattern over the entire alder body. The maple neck has a C-profile with a 9.5” radius and is loaded with 22 medium jumbo frets. The SH pickup configuration uses a Tex-Mex single-coil Strat pickup in the bridge position and a Player Series Humbucking pickup in the neck position.
Other specifications include a solid six-saddle string-through-body hardtail Strat-style bridge with bent steel saddles. I’d expect some nice tones with this simple but effective setup.
Floral Power
I think this is a great-looking guitar, with a nice floral pattern that covers the front and rear of the body. If you like short-scale ’60s-style instruments, then this could be one to pick up. The pickup configuration is pretty useful, too, covering a lot of ground. And the Shawn Mendes Foundation also seems to be doing some valuable work, so supporting that is a bonus.
