Fender Souichiro Yamauchi Stratocaster Custom
Vocalist and lead guitar player of the band Fuji Fabric gets new signature Strat
This Fender Japan Souichiro Yamauchi Stratocaster Custom limited edition. It comes with a CuNiFe Wide Range Humbucker and a Direct Switch and is the latest signature model for the Fuji Fabric guitarist.
Souichiro Yamauchi Stratocaster Custom
The new Fender Souichiro Yamauchi Stratocaster Custom is another Japanese market exclusive release. It has a very unique Stratocaster ash body that has been hollowed out. This has then been paired with a neck that is based on a vintage Telecaster profile.
It comes in a White Satin nitrocellulose finish and has some very interesting pickup choices as well.
Hollow
The selected ash body has been hollowed out on the left and right, leaving the middle section intact. It then has a one-piece quarter-sawn maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. The “U” neck profile has been based on a 54-year-old Telecaster owned by Souichiro Yamauchi.
CuNiFe
The pickups on this model include a CuNiFe Wide Range Humbucker mounted on the original aluminium machined plate. This is paired with a Custom Wired Vintage Style Single Coil Tele Bridge pickup.
It has a Master Volume, Master Tone, and a Direct Switch for neck pickup that sends it straight to the output and a three-way pickup selector switch.
The hardware on this unique signature Strat includes the Pure Vintage 3-Saddle Tele bridge with three Brass Barrel Saddles and a set of vintage tuners.
It also has the Fujifabric Logo on the 4-bolt neck plate.
This exclusive model comes in a hard case and there is also a limited run with signed fret protector and certificate of authenticity available.
Verdict
It looks different, but I really like how it sounds in the demo video and I can see myself loving that large U profile neck as well.
Pity that I don’t live in Japan though, as this is an exclusive run and can be ordered/bought from the new Fender Flagship Store in Tokyo.
MSRP – YEN 396,000
