Fender Squier Sonic adds new colours to lineup
Three new colours added to Squier Sonic
Fender Squier Sonic models are now being released in some sweet new finishes. As of today, the Squier Sonic HSS is available in Lime Green and 2-Color Sunburst. Along with a Surf Green Squier Sonic Telecaster and Stratocaster option as well.
Fender Squier Sonic HSS Lime Green and 2-Color Sunburst
These new Fender Squier Sonic HSS Lime Green and 2-Color Sunburst models offer one very bright and one very traditional new colour option.
Poplar
They have a poplar body paired with a maple C profile neck. The Lime-coloured version has a laurel fretboard, whereas the 2-Color Sunburst model has a maple fretboard instead.
Lime has white plastics and the 2-color Sunburst had black plastics throughout instead. They both have a 6-saddle vintage-style synchronised tremolo with block saddles.
The HSS pickup configuration has a ceramic Squier humbucker in the bridge position, paired with two single-coil pickups. All are wired in a traditional Strat layout via a 5-way selector switch.
Surf Green
Next up are the two new Surf Green models and these look great for the money. They offer a more traditional Stratocaster model with three single-coil pickups or a Telecaster.
Again, these are both poplar-bodied models with maple C profile necks, and this time the Telecaster has the laurel fretboard and the Strat comes with a maple fretboard.
Both these Surf Green models have white plastics and pickguards, which really suits that ’60s style finish. The Strat also has the 6-saddle vintage style synchronised tremolo with block saddles, whereas the Telecaster comes with a 6-Saddle Top-Load Tele bridge, so no string through the body here.
Verdict
Always nice to see new colour options on these affordable ranges of guitars. I think these three new colour choices should please a lot of potential buyers, as they all look really good.
A bit of classic ’60s Surf Green and that bright Lime Green should be popular and then there is a more traditional 2-Color Sunburst, so something for everyone.
Overall, the Squier Sonic Series has been a great upgrade to the old Squier Bullet range and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next.
