Fender Susan Tedeschi Telecaster – Just Won’t Burn
This Fender Susan Tedeschi Telecaster is the Californian guitar giant’s latest signature guitar. It is based on her favourite 1993 American Standard Tele.
Susan Tedeschi Telecaster
Susan Tedeschi’s 1993 American Standard Tele inspired this new Fender signature model. The original is the guitar on the front cover of her ‘Just Won’t Burn‘ album. Her career as a solo artist and with Grammy-award winning Tedeschi Trucks Band has made this guitar quite famous, and so now it is available for all (minus the stickers).
It comes in a rare Aged Caribbean Mist finish with a four-ply tortoiseshell pickguard.
TBX
Other key appointments of the Susan Tedeschi Telecaster are the slim Tedeschi C-shaped maple neck, with a 9.5-inch radius rosewood fretboard and 22 medium jumbo frets.
The guitar has an alder body and is fitted with two Custom Susan Tedeschi Single-Coil Tele pickups. It also has a TBX tone control, standard volume control, and a three-way pickup selector switch.
Hardware
The hardware includes a modern six-saddle Telebridge, a set of sealed tuners, and a 4-bolt with a neck plate featuring custom Susan Tedeschi artwork. Tedeschi’s signature is also on the rear of the headstock.
Verdict
It is an interesting take on a Telecaster, and the slim neck profile will suit some players. It has many relatively modern updates, including the six-saddle bridge and a TBX tone (Treble Bass Expander) control. The original guitar is covered in stickers, so at least this one lets you see the finish.
It is an ideal guitar that will cover many styles, though it will surely be perfect for the warm, dreamy blues style that Tedeschi is famous for.
