Fender Tom Morello Soul Power Stratocaster – Will you sticker yours?
The Audioslave era Soul Power Strat gets an official release
The Fender Tom Morello ‘Soul Power’ Artist Signature Stratocaster has now officially been released, following on from its debut back at NAMM earlier this year. This is model is based on the guitar from Mr Morello’s time with Audioslave, which was heavily modded for Tom’s tastes in creative guitar playing.
Soul Power
Tom Morello is a bit of a dude. He has played in two hugely successful bands and has a degree in political science from Harvard University. The announcement of his new Artist Signature Stratocaster earlier this year was welcome. It’s known as the Soul Power guitar.
Here’s Tom himself talking about his new signature guitar:
This Fender Soul Power signature guitar is made to my exact specifications and is an authentic replica of the instrument that forged my sound in Audioslave …
That was a period of renewed artistic freedom and limitless expression on the guitar for me and Soul Power was the sonic divining rod leading the way. Just as important as getting the specs right however is the charitable/social justice component of my collaboration with Fender. Together we are giving away hundreds of guitars to underprivileged schools and to the Jail Guitar Doors prison rehabilitation program to help unlock creative doors and create better (and louder) futures.
Audioslave
This guitar is based on the modded Designer Series Strat that Morello wielded when he was with Audioslave and it features quite a few personal modifications. These include a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucker at the bridge, plus a pair of Fender Noiseless single-coils in the neck and middle positions. There’s also a recessed Floyd Rose locking trem system and a kill switch that creates the stutter DJ-style effect he made famous.
Sticker?
The black finish is bound neatly and applied to a solid alder body. The maple neck has a Deep-C profile and a compound radius 9.5″-14″. It’s loaded with a rosewood fingerboard and 22 medium-jumbo frets accompanied by a matching painted headstock. Thankfully, the ‘Soul Power’ sticker is optional, so you can convey your own message if you buy one. Though it does have that mirrored pickguard, so you will still stand out on stage.
RRP – USD 1299

No hammer and sickle sticker?
Marxism sells.
The guy’s a total fraud. But that’s a nice guitar.
