FireSonic FireMaster: All-in-one enhancer for polishing your mix
United Plugins has released FireSonic FireMaster, a new all-in-one finalizer plug-in. Designed to give your tracks that extra bit of polish, FireMaster seeks to achieve many things with only a handful of controls. If you’re looking for an easy-to-use finisher plug-in, this may be worth a look.
FireSonic FireMaster
According to the developer, FireMaster is a “finisher and sonic exciter”, designed to give your mixes “more body, air and perfect balance”. Its main application is the stereo bus, but you can also use it on individual tracks like vocals, bass and drums. Underneath the tube-laden GUI is a psychoacoustic algorithm with controls for depth and color. Two additional knobs let you adjust the bass and treble (air), so you might not need an additional EQ. They’ve also included input and output faders, as well as a mix knob. That’s a good idea, as it lets you apply a little bit of processing while keeping the character of the track intact.
As with all psychoacoustic plug-ins with few controls, it’s hit or miss: you either like what the algorithm does to your tracks, or you don’t. To make things even simpler, FireMaster comes with lots of presets, which you can use as a starting point. According to FireSonic, the plug-in is CPU friendly and can be used on multiple tracks without draining too much power. It uses 64-bit internal processing and can handle any sampling rate, the company claims.
If you like algorithmic mastering plug-ins and exciters / enhancers like Zynaptiq Intensity, ToneBoosters Enhancer or Process.Audio Sugar, FireMaster will fit right in.
