First glimpse of Crazy8Beats drum sequencer from Twist Electrons
We all enjoyed the Twisted Electrons Crazy8 sequencer released earlier this year. Well, we’ve come across some images and specs of a forthcoming drum sequencer version called the Crazy8Beats.
Crazy8Beats
First turning up on the Liquid Sky Berlin blog it looks a lot like the Crazy8 but with button pads rather than the 303 style sequencer keys. According to the list of specs it has a total of 21 inputs and outputs including two MIDI outputs, MIDI in, 8 triggers and 8CV outputs and sync in/out. Each step is controllable with MIDI CC or CV modulation. It supports realtime beat recording with velocity and swing. It has probability and something called “beat auto-remixing”.
The blog doesn’t actually mention it but I’m assuming it will run 8 tracks like the Crazy8 and the name suggests. Each track can then have 16 patterns with different clock rates and swing per track. You can trigger track patterns individually or all together and create pattern chains. Each track can run any of 4 modes; probably the forward, reverse, pendulum and random found on the Crazy8.
We’re told that preorders will begin before Christmas and shipping can be expected before Superbooth 2018. The price is likely to be around €255 like the Crazy 8. Looks like a load of fun and when combined with the Crazy8 you’ve got a hardware production studio in two little boxes.
