Friedman IR-D Preamp – Dirty Shirley and Twin Sister!
The new Friedman IR-D Preamp combines the Dirty Shirley and Twin Sister voices. This preamp has two independent channels and convenient IR technology.
Friedman IR-D Preamp
This new Friedman IR-D Preamp could be a massive hit with guitarists as it combines the Dirty Shirley and Twin Sister into one compact and super versatile unit. The preamp runs via two 12AX7 tubes at high voltages, and Dave Friedman is great at making vacuum tubes sound phenomenal.
Twin Channels
Each channel has a 3-band EQ, Volume, and Gain, an independent boost, Structure, Bright, IR cabinet/power amp simulations, and 13 IRs preloaded. Users can access four channels of British amp tones, so it is super flexible.
Rear Panel
The rear panel features Friedman’s ultra-transparent series effects loop, a balanced out, a 5-pin MIDI, and a MIDI-capable USB. Allowing guitarists to easily integrate into most systems and edit the unit using the IR-D’s editing software.
Users can add third-party IRs, bypass the IRs altogether, or even bypass the preamp and just use the IRS. Therefore, the software is convenient for adapting the IR-D Preamp to any situation. They have also included a headphone-out and a ground lift switch.
Verdict
At this price point, there is a lot to love about this new preamp from Friedman, so I think it will be a huge seller. I own a lot of Friedman gear because it is well-designed and has excellent tones. Therefore, I expect this will put a lot of smiles on guitarists’ faces.
I suspect we will see many video demos of this new preamp over the coming weeks. I look forward to hearing the classic amp tones from this one, as it should sound pretty epic.
