One speaker, many names: I’ll just call the new speaker Funktion-One Evolution X – even though the more common name Evo X is used on the product page and in an older video. For the manufacturer, it’s not about the name, it’s about the sound. And that’s where the name Funktion-One (alternatively spelt without a hyphen) stands like a rock in the surf. Let’s take a closer look at the PA speaker.
Funktion-One Evolution X: a PA loudspeaker with a waveguide design and a wide horizontal dispersion pattern
The Funktion-One Evolution X is the latest coup from the British company that has achieved legendary status with its PA speakers. The new full-range speaker is all about compact dimensions, higher SPL levels and the latest driver technology. This should make the Evo X the first choice for live events, small club rooms and theatres.
The single loudspeaker solution is based on a newly developed isophase diffraction HF waveguide technology that provides a wide horizontal dispersion pattern of 90 degrees. The Evolution X covers a total frequency range of 60Hz to 18kHz (at -3dB), with the Funktion-One midrange driver covering 280Hz to 5kHz.

The Funktion-One Evolution X weighs 47 kilos and comes with a matching trolley. This means that the speaker can be moved quickly, especially at festivals.
With high SPL from a relatively compact cabinet, they can be used as a pair for small live events or as a four-point system for small clubs. Combine with F-Series or BR-Series woofers to boost the low-frequency energy.
