From Mifki Ltd comes a new iPad app called miRack that attempts to emulate the Euroack modular experience. Or at least it emulates the VCV Rack software that emulates a Eurorack experience and does a really good job of it.

They’ve essentially taken the hugely popular and open source VCV Rack software modular environment and ported it across to iOS. By all accounts they’ve done a fabulous job. Obviously there will be performance limitations when compared to the desktop version but you’ll still be able to patch up plenty of modules. What’s perhaps more important is that they’ve been able to provide a decent touchable interface so that it’s not hard work to manipulate.

All the modules from VCV Rack can potentially be ported across. Mifki says that they’ve had to change the graphics on some Befaco and ESeries modules in order to avoid licensing issues. But you’ll be very happy to see all the Mutable Instrument modules present and accounted for.

The response to the app has been excellent so far and the performance levels and quality of the interface are a credit to the developers who have been hard at work on this for quite some time.

miRack is available now for $7.99
